Welcome to the page of the Mathematical Communication Theory (MCT) group of Eindhoven University of Technology. The chair conducts research on data communication, its mathematical foundations, and its applications. It is part of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Data communication is about reliably communicating data over a possibly noisy channel, efficiently storing and retrieving them, and guaranteeing their integrity. MCT focuses on various research topics at the crossroad of data communication and applied discrete mathematics:

• error-correcting codes (coding theory);
• optimization for data storage and recovery, including DNA storage;
• network coding;
• quantum error correction;
• enumerative and algebraic combinatorics;
• code-based (post-quantum) cryptography.
